Currently I have to kill the terminal window and then recover the file. How to recover from the ctrl-s freeze ?

Alternatively, use Alt+A to set the marker, move the selection using arrow key and then use Alt+6 to copy, Ctrl+k to cut and Ctrl+6 to cancel. Use Ctrl+U to paste the copied or cut text.
