WebIt kind of makes sense if the allies were crushed pretty early the US would have probably just allied with the USSR which in HOI3 would be best modelled by joining the Comintern. From what I can see the US isn't actually communist (the democrats are in power) but has just allied with the only significant anti-axis alliance remaining.
